      Updating PeriopSim VR for HTC VIVE Focus 3 Without an App Store

      The following steps will guide you through the process of manually updating the PeriopSim VR App using an APK file

      Please note: When updating the PeriopSim VR App for Focus 3 the content modules will need to be downloaded again, so please allow yourself time and plan accordingly.

      To update an existing version of PeriopSim VR for HTC VIVE Focus 3 using a direct download (sideloading) follow the steps below: 
      1. In order to properly update the PeriopSim VR App, you must first uninstall the existing PeriopSim VR app from the VIVE Focus 3 headset. This can be done by going to Settings > Storage. Select the app you want to remove and then select Uninstall. Further instructions from the HTC - Uninstalling Apps
      2. Next be sure to allow the headset access to unknown apps. In the headset, go to Settings > Advanced. Turn on "Allow unknown apps".
      3. Restart the headset in order to clear out any legacy data and cache. Press and hold the headset button on the left side of the VIVE Focus 3 for 3-5 seconds to restart or shutdown the headset. 
      4. Once the headset has been powered back on, copy the PeriopSim VR for Focus 3 APK file to an external storage device and insert into the USB port on the right side of the VIVE Focus 3 headset. A window should appear asking you to install the APK file. You can also select Storage > File browser. Navigate to the folder that contains the APK file and select the APK file to install it.

      Please note:  We recommend whitelisting and monitoring our app update emails so you're aware of when app updates are available, and when critical updates are needed.
